Where is our hope? (Part 6 of 6)

Where is our hope? Is it in the stock market? In our health? In our own strength? Or maybe our own favorite sports team? I can tell you that if it is in these things it will not satisfy our soul when we need it most. If it is in any of these things, it will not last. All things shall fail, cease, and vanish away. But Charity, that pure love that Christ has for you and me and the entire world never faileth. For our complicated days now and for the even more complicated days that will come I find comfort in knowing what Elder Thierry Mutombo taught us in the April 2021 General Conference when he said, speaking of Jesus Christ, “He is the antidote and remedy to the confusion of the world.”

Elder Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve taught this powerful principle:

“As you hear and listen to Him, remember joyfully and reverently, that the Savior loves to restore what you cannot restore; He loves to heal the wounds you cannot heal; He loves to fix what has been irreparably broken; He compensates for any unfairness inflicted on you; and He loves to permanently mend even shattered hearts.”

I bear my personal witness that these are indeed the Latter Days, days of extremes and days of opportunities. I am reminded of a recent sweet promise from a prophet. Listen to President Eyring and his optimism about this work. He said, “Even an unbelieving world will recognize The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and realize the power of God upon it.”

May we each Keep Going, Keep Trusting in God, Keep our Covenants, and Keep our hope centered on our Savior Jesus Christ. Like we sing in the closing verse of the hymn “I Believe in Christ”...”I believe in Christ, He stands supreme, From Him I’ll gain my fondest dream, and while I strive through grief and pain, His voice is heard, ye shall obtain, I believe in Christ, so come what may, With Him I’ll stand in that great day, when on this earth He comes again to rule among the sons of men.” I leave these thoughts with you in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
