As we celebrate our own temple open house, here are some more amazing experiences from various temple open houses.
Clint’s neighbor passed away and her funeral services were held last week. The surviving husband asked Clint if they could take the family, who was in town for the funeral services through a tour of the temple. Clint took the extended family on a tour of the temple. He allowed them to spend some time in a small sealing room where they had an impromptu testimony meeting and reminisced about their wife/mother/grandmother. As they were together, one of the little boys began to cry. His mother, assuming that a brother had irritated him, asked what the issue was. He replied: “I just saw grandma Rosie.” The mother asked “Where?” to which he replied by pointing to a corner of the sealing room and said “there.”
A young sister, a member of the Church, was experiencing a faith crisis. At the invitation of a friend, she attended the Saratoga Springs Temple Open House. As she sat in the Celestial Room, she felt a hand on her shoulder and felt her deceased grandmother say to her, “Resolve your doctrinal issues and return to the covenant path.”
We took a family through the
temple and they asked, “what do we need to do to be
baptized?” They hadn’t felt that kind of peace before.
We took a couple to the temple. The man
is active and we are teaching his girlfriend. As they drove
us to temple we were talking. She was saying, “Yes, I’d like
to be baptized,” but still being non-committal. They were
both saying, “Yes, we are thinking of getting married,”
but there were lots of hesitation and doubts. Then they
went through the temple. Suddenly it was, “Yes, we are
getting married,” and, “Yes, I’m getting baptized.” Before we
got there, there was lots of uncertainty in
their talking. After the temple they were very sure.
