One day, I remember getting dressed for PE in 7th grade. I knew we were running the mile that day and I did not like running the mile. This particular day was one of those days when I was having a bad hair day, I wasn’t crazy about my PE clothes, and my friends were doing a great job teasing. Anyone had a day like that? As we walk through life, one thing is certain, we will all have days like that. Because we will all have days like that, I wish to put one eternal truth above all the others.
Each of us belongs. There is meaning and purpose to our life. This reality is often overshadowed by the complexities of life.
I’ve always loved the explanation of prayer in the Bible Dictionary: “As soon as we learn the true relationship in which we stand toward God (namely, God is our Father, and we are His children), then at once prayer becomes natural and instinctive on our part (Matt. 7:7–11). Many of the so-called difficulties about prayer arise from forgetting this relationship.”
President Nelson helps us understand the eternal relationship we have with Heaven:
“In all of eternity, no one will ever know you or care about you more than He does. No one will ever be closer to you than He is. You can pour out your heart to Him and trust Him to send the Holy Ghost and angels to care for you.”
I hope that this message rises to the top of all your thoughts. We can then more easily see how we can be “at one” with Him through the atonement and receive His lasting peace and joy.
