This past weekend was the celebration of Juneteenth, a holiday celebrated on 19 June to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. Here in Redding we had spectacular performances by various groups to celebrate this occasion.
If you look, you'll see a couple of our family history center representatives (Sister Spaulding and Sister Ruhl) discussing family history with the Imam from the Redding Islamic Center. He has visited the center before and was stuck going back beyond his parents. They were giving him some pointers as to how the newly released 1950's census might help him. He was pretty excited!
Also, the missionaries were publicly thanked for their help in setting up. It's great to be out there and be contributing members of our community!
